In 2019, we partnered with the City of Greater Sudbury’s Tourism Department to re-open the A.Y. Jackson Lookout facilities for the summer season. This coming season will mark our seventh consecutive summer welcoming visitors to this iconic destination.
Our objective is to align with regional and provincial tourism promotion led by Rainbow Routes, Algoma Tourism, and Discover Ontario, positioning the A.Y. Jackson Lookout as a must-visit stop in Onaping Falls for visitors from near and far.
Known locally as High Falls, the A.Y. Jackson Lookout offers a truly unique and memorable experience. As a site connected to A.Y. Jackson and the Group of Seven, it holds significant cultural and artistic value. With the Group of Seven heavily promoted across multiple platforms, it is essential that this Lookout continues to operate as a high-quality, well-maintained destination that meets visitor expectations and encourages longer stays in the region.
We are proud to have been recipients of the Canada Summer Jobs Program through the Government of Canada for the past six years. This support allows us to employ four to five summer students annually as ambassadors for Onaping Falls. Our Tourist Liaisons welcome visitors, collect visitation data and points of origin, and provide meaningful engagement that enhances the visitor experience.
In addition, with the support of our summer staff, the Onaping Falls Recreation Committee (OFRC) delivers weekly, free community activities at the Lookout, ensuring the site serves not only as a tourism asset but also as an accessible and vibrant community gathering space.
